Hillary Clinton Becomes First Woman to Contest (and probably fail to win) the Office Of US President

(Anonymous) 2016-07-26 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is true.

Not a fan, not voting for her, but I still got goosebumps when it was announced. Kudos Hillary Clinton for making herstory!

OK, you're probably just trying to be funny, but please don't use the construction "herstory." It sounds ign'ant.

If it's good enough for RuPaul, it's good enough for me!

First major party nominee.

Don't pay attention to all those silly misguided non-Hillaries. Only Clintons matter.

I was saying that she's not the first woman to contest the presidency, she's the first major party nominee. I'm really confused by how you managed to get to that response from that post.

I think they meant the other non-Clinton female candidates for presidents in the past don't count. Sarcastically, obviously.

I'm confused by your confusion. Hillary's drones should feel ashamed of themselves for ignoring the contributions of women who weren't their string-puller.

She has at least a 47% chance of winning, higher by most predictions systems that aren't naively taking post-republican-convention-bump polling as the true state of the race. But, you know, please do repeat again how Trump will definitely win because stupid libs are stupid and PC and elitist, maybe it'll go better this time.

Victoria Woodhull was the first woman to run for president. Shirley Chisholm also ran.

I was going to mention Victoria Woodhull if no one else did. She ran in 1872!

Best available data analysis has her probably winning, and a well-deserved win it will be. She's an inspiring figure.

Oh, yes, a lying incompetent lawbreaking rapist-enabling woman. Very inspiring.

I would love for a woman to win the White House. But not this woman. She is vile.

None of those things are true. She's more honest than any other candidate, has a long and accomplished track record as a public servant, has been constantly been the subject of partisan investigations, all of which have found no malfeasance, and as for the rapist bullshit... you should stop thinking Breitbart is a news service.

Her husband is a rapist. She stays married to him. As for "no malfeasance," maybe you should stop using MSNBC as a news service. Even the FBI said "anyone else would be in jail for this email stuff." She should not be given a clearance, ever, after this, let alone the highest office in the land. Anyone else would have been stripped of their clearance and their job. But she gets a pass because those pesky things called "laws" are apparently only for little people.

The fact that they're using the excuse "oh, she didn't intend to break the law" does not make me feel better. This just means she's either incompetent or stupid, because she was told not to do it and she did anyway.

All she accomplished as a public servant was to get our ambassador killed in Benghazi. But, hey, what difference, at this point, does it make?

Well, if people had supported Liddy Dole, or Carol Moseley Braun, to the point of nomination, then the first one nominated by one of the two major parties wouldn't have been Mrs. Clinton.

It's really hard for me to see any feminism in ignoring other women who have run as if Hillary is the only woman ever.

I suspect that its a slip of the tongue and not a big thing.

Re: Hillary Clinton Becomes First Woman to Contest (and probably fail to win) the Office Of US Presi

(Anonymous) 2016-07-26 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
...why do you think she'll "fail to win"? All polls pretty much put her comfortably above Trump in probability to win.

That's why.

..that's the opposite of logic.

Have you been paying attention during this election at all?

"polls are unreliable" does not actually imply that the opposite of polls is true
