How do you feel about looping audio ads on the dashboard? I really think that's going to strangle Tumblr.

Adblock and Xkit together work wonders.

Well, once you're already a user, they mostly work. Even then, they only mostly work. I have XKit installed, and I still had an audio ad looping endlessly as I was trying to post, two days ago, I think.

I have a history with Tumblr; I am used to using it, and will fight to hold on to it. But a new user is going to be turned off fast. How can Tumblr grow its user base if any new user has to install a bunch of extensions to shut up the ads?

Even with Adblock and XKit, I'd still get that audio ad. It seems that whenever Adblock and XKit figure out how to block the ad, Tumblr figures out how to get around it.

I have both but sometimes one slips past. They don't even sound like regular ads... sometimes it sounds like a Japanese gameshow. It blasts in my ear out of nowhere, what the fuck is going on?

1) Adblock doesn't do shit for me, I'm trying xkit with the new anti-capitalism extension now.
2) Jumping through hoops like this shouldn't even be necessary. WTF tumblr? Auto play AND looping? They're not even trying NOT to be assholes.

What kind of ads are you getting? The sounds that play for me on my dash sound strange and are in different languages. It seems very weird to have an ad that just plays and has no image/video somewhere else on the page. I cannot imagine anyone thinking this is a good idea, especially for a site like tumblr.

It really sucks tumblr never makes announcements or tells people whats going on when shit like this happens. Leaving everyone confused and having to guess.

Um, I don't remember now? The one that really bugged me was some ad with two men speaking English, I think. It looped repeatedly while I was composing a post. Very annoying.
