I got frustrated and kind of wandered away from it for a while. Maybe I'll go see if there are any other nice features added since then.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-27 12:09 am (UTC)(link)On Tumblr, if you make a sensitive post, you have to hold your breath and trust that some totally random stranger with a lot of followers who wants to make you look bad doesn't find it and spread it around, thus inviting a nonstop swarm of horrible anons into your inbox and reblogs with nasty comments and tags. On LJ clones, you lock the sensitive post to your followers, and if it still gets spread around then you know which of your friends you can't trust.
Also, yes, you can have good conversations on Tumblr. You just can't have any involving long paragraphs of complicated, nuanced information. If I have to put a post under a cut, there's like a fifty percent drop in people who'd stop to read it.
And every time someone you follow responds to an ask or reply publicly, their whole dash sees it. If they're super popular,or the discussion is intense, it can take over your entire dash for hours. This is even worse if it's about something you really don't want to hear about (and they keep forgetting to tag it)
