Fruit flies are a pain in the ass. I have a swarm of them in my house that will NOT go away. All because of a stupid Banana that was on top of the fridge that I forgot about for a few weeks. The Banana is long gone, you annoying insects, now make yourselves long gone as well!

I'm sorry. We had them for a while. My parents decided they came from the Asian mangoes we were buying, so mangoes were banned from our house. This made me sad because I was happy to deal with the fruit flies if it meant mangoes, my favorite fruit.

Yes, once fruit flies come, it is hard to get rid of them.

Leave out a shallow bowl of apple cider vinegar, put in a drop of dish soap to kill the surface tension, and watch them commit mass suicide! A few nights of refreshing the bowl should put them to a permanent end.

I found the best mix for this is two parts vinegar, three parts apple juice (+the dash of soap) - works like a charm.

But make sure it's actual apple cider vinegar! The grocery store I go to sells something that looks like apple cidar vinegar, but if you look closely, it's actually "apple cider flavored vinegar"--just plain old white vinegar with some coloring and flavoring added. Trust me, the fruit flies can tell the difference!
