Pidge is a girl who had to disguise herself as a boy in order to get into a military school so that she could search for info on her dad and brother, who supposedly died on a mission. When her secret comes out, she outright says that she's a girl. There's no ambiguity there whatsoever.

Adding to this, she isn't outed or anything, she just gets closer to her teammates and outright says that being called he is making her uncomfortable and that she's a girl.

The other characters say they knew, but were respecting her by referring to her as a boy when she was pretending to be one and they make the switch without any drama.

It's very respectfully handled and unambiguous.
