I prefer the world view where none of us deserve to die.

Same. Except, you know, in the natural way that death comes to us all, etc.

Honestly I'm even a fan of researching life extension etc - but yeah, we die as all living thing do. It's short enough as it is, no need to cut it shorter.

Yeah, I'm generally a fan of living. I've grown attached to it. I want to continue doing so.

I imagine OP is just being edgy, but yes, agreed. I'll take the philosophy that no one "deserves" to die.

I feel a Tolkien quote coming on, personally: "Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment.

Ooooh, nice quote!

My only caveat with the whole human race dying is what would happen to the animals living in captivity that are dependent on humans to survive.

Either you're being edgy or you're in a fucked up headspace and need some help right the fuck now.

i don't really buy into the "deserve" part of any philosophy, deserve to die or deserve to live.

we ARE alive, so just be nice while you are here and take care of people and the planet.

Only semi related but I feel like that in most stage versions (aka the two filmed ones I've seen), the Sweeney character comes across as less ~2edgy~ mostly by virtue of being cast older. Like, I like Depp's performance in this just fine but he seems like a completely different character than George Hearn's Sweeney Todd. An older man saying stuff about there being only two types of men just comes across differently than baby faced Johnny Depp saying it, imo.

...Like I said only semi related but I love Sweeney Todd and love getting chances to talk about it

Fun trivia: my high school marching band had Sweeney Todd as our show, freshman year! It was pretty cool.

(The next year was Nightmare Before Christmas. The audience loved that, but sadly, the judges did not, and we were switched to more "conventional" shows after that.)

I think it was less to do with Depp's age and more that he was being directed to Burton it up to the max. I would have loved to see that movie given the Hollywood treatment by someone with a better sense of humor and a less "Hot Topic" style.

For the rest of us, death will be a relief.

Yeah, then I won't have to read secrets like this one anymore!
