Interesting point, although couldn't the same be said for any time someone goes missing (for real, in those cases) and there's a lot of coverage? What is the difference? Just curious.

I mean when someone just goes missing people don't really know that they are being held against their will? I don't know much about missing persons cases, but I have been in abusive situations, and in my experiences, people confronting your abuser often makes the abuse worse.

I just think, say, if an abusive boyfriend or whoever was as unstable as these people said, and was forcing her to act normal and keep making videos, everyone making a huge fuss about how she isn't acting normal and is (supposedly) sending out cries for help would surely alert the abuser to this as well, and just make her life harder if she can't actually get away from him

I just think, even if this isn't true, which it probably isn't, this is setting a bad precedent

(sa, I just want to make it clear I don't believe these people even though I used really diplomatic language here.)

Anon above covered a lot, but also: friends and family of the missing person organizing a search party and going, "Something is terribly wrong, please help us find such-and-so" is kinda different than a random anonymous stranger forming crackpot theories.

Also, like, one would hope that if my family and the cops think I've been kidnapped by an abusive friend/patner/relative, they would go about rescuing me a bit more subtly and with more regard to my safety than just blasting about it on TUMBLR of all places.
