I'd extend it to "even if it is canon, chill" Because sometimes canon shippers are a lot more chill, but I'm throughly tired of "But it's CANON that...." when it comes to shipping. It's never something like "But it's canon that he's scared of the ocean, why are there so many surfer AUs?" It's always something like "But it's CANON that they don't like each-other THAT way!" Yes, yes I know. That's why it's FANfic and not 'canon'.
