It's great that you enjoyed the movie so much!

As for the books, you'll find that some are well written and some are not, and the lore in many of them has already been retconned twice. But, having said that, here's a guide to reading the books in more or less "chronological order":

If you don't mind going into fan work, you can try reading a blog called Travels through Azeroth and Outland (destron.blogspot.com), which puts the world front and center. Goes a lot into stuff like local history, religious schisms, and the lives of regular people. It's mostly fan speculation (and a lot of it's out of date, since it hasn't been updated since Cata), but it stays pretty consistent with the old lore.

I know the feeling of loving big fantasy worlds. Arda (Middle Earth is the middle of it), Thedas (Dragon Age), Faerûn (Forgotten Realms), even Westeros - though I did say above that I am casual fan who doesn't read the books or watch the show, but I love the world-building in it - are some of the main worlds I am fond of.

I have only dipped a toe in the Warcraft pond so far, but what I have seen of the world building looks great.
