Tell me your secrets, oh wise one!

It's uh, not really fancy secrets. Procrastination was never one of my vices, but PERFECTIONISM was, and I know for a lot of folks, the two things are related. (There's also executive dysfunction stuff, but I know SHIT about that so can give no helpful advice there.) SO HERE ARE MY PERFECTIONISM TIPS.

I feel like at some point, I just... made myself okay with the idea of failing. There were a few reasons. My life had gotten so bad that I lost my ability to give as many shits as usual. I already felt like a failure, so fearing it seemed kinda ridiculous.

But I also watched a ton of bad movies. I read a lot of bad books. I asked myself how I would feel if Ed Wood had never made his movies because he wasn't good enough. I decided that my life would be a sadder place without the likes of him.

I asked myself if I would be okay with being an Ed Wood. And once I put it to myself that way, I thought yeah, maybe I could be an Ed Wood. I certainly was never going to be a Shakespeare!

I asked myself, what am I actually most afraid of, failing-wise? At the bottom line, I was worried that I'd hurt people. You know, 'Birth of a Nation' kinda stuff. But let's be honest, 'Birth of a Nation' was so fucked-up because it was a very popular, well-made movie. HORRIBLE, but well-made. Had Ed Wood tried to make it, it wouldn't have been able to do such damage, because the movie would've been laughably bad.

Ironically, my very failure could prevent me from hurting people!

It sounds like a weird comfort, but it actually was quite helpful for me. Once I made friends with failure, and stopped seeing my work as a symbol for myself, it got a lot easier.

I'm loyal and a great secret keeper.

I'm really fucking funny and a pretty dang good friend.

I like the way my hair smells when I wash it and put fresh coconut oil in it. Also my eyes are a pretty shade of green.

My enthusiasm seems to inspire people.

My singing voice...just cause that's something I probably never mentioned here.

I'm a good listener and depending on the person I can apparently logic panic attacks to death.

I know I'm the person people can go to let off their emotions. And I'm also the cat-expert friend. So friends with cats are never in the dark about their kitties' behavior.

MY NAILS!!! i don't even cure them that much (just cutting them every two weeks, nothing else) and they're fantastic! i think that's actually strange since i used to bite them when i was a teen.

I wish I had nice nails! It's legit what I would change about myself if I could change one thing. I've always admired nice nails, mine are stubby and asymmetrical.

I'm a good lay. Even at my lowest, I had that to hang on to: good in bed.

Also these days my writing is superb, my life is more in order than it has been in a long time, and I'm exercising more than I used to.

I am real smart and I am really, really good at listening to other people and I try hard to be kind and considerate.

I have cool hair. Right now it's dark purple.
