I am constantly shocked by people who argue that GoT is objectively a high quality show. High budget show, maybe. But it's hilarious dumb otherwise, and relies solely on sexual and violent gratuity to move its plot along that I imagine delights its teenage crowd but I don't get why grown adults put up with it. Unless they are so new to the fantasy genre that the mere presence of dragons astounds them. Having slogged through several of the books and seasons of the show to please friends who really wanted me to give it a try, the only thing redeeming about it imo was the scenery, costumes and music. aka nothing that had to do with the actual writing.

+1

I'm tired of hearing how GOT is 'the best show ever!' And it does rely on sexual and violent gratuity to move its plot along, I don't care how people try and justify otherwise. (I've seen all of the first series, some of the second and some of the third. Like OP, I tried it because I couldn't figure out why everyone seemed to love it so much). To me, the best shows don't need to rely on 'sexploitation'. Two that come to mind are 'Breaking Bad' and 'Mr Robot'. No gratuitous sex scenes, just really clever writing.

Like with 'Twilight' and '50 Shades of Grey', I'm waiting for the craze to be over, so people will just STFU about this damned annoying show!

Seriously. What they did to Sansa and Stannis alone shows just how fucking terrible the writing is.
