People still really like the original series though, unironically. I see it praised all the time. The only things I see get flack are the epilogue and the expanded universe.

AYRT - Well, really I mean in the fandom itself. The outside world definitely still seems to love it, as do a lot of former fandom people who left (but still talk about the books from time to time).

I don't know, I see a LOT of people who are only okay with talking about it in terms of why Hermione shouldn't have ended up with Ron and/or why Harry shouldn't have ended up with Ginny.

Original anon: I think maybe AYRT is thinking of people in general, who remember loving the books and/or still do, rather than people active in the fandom. It's definitely true that in general people like the books and are fine with the ships.

I am the ayrt and no, I know people still involved in the fandom? I guess its just my friend group though - I'm not in the fandom myself so I only see what they do.
