I guess I should clarify that, because this probably isn't how other people feel: for me, there's a strong overlap between "favorite characters" and "characters I would most like to spend a day with".

I can appreciate good villainous characters, but it's a very, very different kind of appreciation - more distant, less personal, and it doesn't make me want to read fanfic or any of that kind of thing about them. And that doesn't seem to be the case for other people - they do want to read fanfic, they do have villainous favs, etc. So that's mostly what I'm wondering.
