Well, you said you think it's amazing, so you at least appreciate it, right? Can't you focus on that? Unless they specifically like how you like the art, I'd just be like: "this amazing person did art for my fic".

I agree. Emphasize how neat it is that they were inspired by your fic and did this, then it's not so weird that you aren't heavily praising the quality of the art.
