I wouldn't be surprised if Cory Booker was on the shortlist for vice president, but I think he needs a few more years in the national spotlight first. I think he's also a bit more progressive than Tim Kaine, which may be why Hilary went for Kaine.

I think the DNC uses speechwriters just to tweak the speech or more to edit the kinks. They just seem like better orators and more charismatic speeches. I've been moved by them this year, just like Obama's first speech in 2004.

I know a lot of liberals who don't like Cory Booker because he's perceived as being in the pocket of the big banks at least as much Hillary and Kaine, who both have that problem. But then he's progressive on other issues. So he seems to be a bit of the worst of both worlds to me, able to be attacked by both Sanders supporters and people in the center.

That's why I think he needs to even himself out in the national spotlight a bit longer. He hasn't been Senator long, prior to that he was mayor of Newark, NJ which is one of the more crime ridden areas in the country. He was constantly trying to turn the city around and I know there were quite a few scandals that popped up while he was mayor.
