Sorry for jumping on this thread with my own question, but it's pretty similar.

How do you let someone down easy when they ask to do an "art trade" with you, but their art is... eh...? They're working on a project similar to mine and want to do an "art trade" in a way that suggests they want to use me for publicity more than anything else? It's kind of hard for me to be blunt and flat out tell them anything mean.

You're overthinking this, probably. "Thanks, but I'm really busy with work right now!" Why would you need to be blunt or mean about the quality of their art?
