I don't really get that at all. When person A does something to impress person B, most people get that this is a one-way gesture, not necessarily something that's mutually agreed upon or condoned by person B. I've also never seen anyone blame or even imply that Foster was responsible in any way.

this. he shot the president because he believed it would impress her; that's just literally what happened and he flat out said as much in a letter he wrote. I've never seen anyone imply that she actually was impressed by it or that she wanted him to do it...the dude was just nuts.
