Yeah, there are exactly TWO epic fantasies with intrigue that I've been able to enjoy. TWO. And I know enough about my taste and why those two exceptions existed to know that GoT is high unlikely to be in the same vein. (Both exceptions, for instance, took place in fictional worlds NOT based on Europe, never mind vaguely medieval northwest Europe.)
