I spent season 7 watching the review videos from several YouTube commentators to keep track of the plot, and I occasionally read GoT fanfic, but I have no desire to watch the show itself or read the books.

So if you get by just fine tracking spoilers and meta, you keep doing that. I think it's a perfectly legitimate way to follow the series (I would even call myself a casual fan of GoT, but what you would call yourself OP is up to you).
