Re: Words = Violence?

I think they can be but aren't always, just like physical interactions can be violent but not always. If you're walking down the street and bump into someone, you might hurt them but that's not violence, for example. Violence requires intent.

I think slurs and other words like that usually seek to inspire or incite violence, but are not violence themselves. The WBC shouting that God Hates Fags, is not violence but they're definitely looking to start some.

Sometimes, if it's an extended, concentrated bullying campaign to get some specific listener to kill themselves or whatever, I think words can be considered violence, yeah. But that would be on top of stalking, harassment, and verbal abuse.
