I loved the original Voltron when I was a kid. Had the interlocking lion toys, the comics, the whole bit.

The reboot is an improvement. The characters have vastly more depth than their original counterparts, and not just Pidge being a girl. Sven/Shiro's backstory. Hunk being a capable mechanic and pretty savvy about other people's motivations instead of just being Generic Big Dude #1. Lance's bravado coming from insecurity and a desire to prove he's worthy rather than just being Generic Asshole Dude #1. Keith is really the only one who doesn't have a personality beyond Generic Hero Dude #1. Plus, the lions having a reason behind who's piloting them instead of being able to swap pilots, like Keith for Sven, Lance for Keith, and Allura for Lance in the original (I always let Allura be in the black lion to maximize color-coordination when playing, ngl).
