Ruse is usually considered a standout. I was actually really surprised by how much I liked Route 666 since I don't like horror but it's one of my favorites. Also, Meridian was another one that surprised me. I've heard more than one person who dismissed it because of the teen girl protagonist and then picked it up and really enjoyed it.

Negation and The Path are usually praised pretty highly but Negation is one of the titles that's tied tightly to CrossGen's overarching plot. I don't think you need to know other titles to enjoy it but it has been a while since I read it. The Path is usually praised because of its unique style. El Cazador is also praised. There are only 6 issues, so it was just getting started but it's also easy to get the whole thing. It does come in a TPB.

I generally feel that if you are already a fan of the genre of the title, you probably won't be disappointed. I know my favorites (Sigil, Sojourn, Mystic) are in my favorite genres so I can't really comment on quality.
