You may not be able to find it, but Marvel did a three-issue series called Ultragirl back in the 1990's. Not near as dark as Runaways, but plays with some of the same kind of Marvel Universe tropes.

I think Leonard Kirk did the art? Anyway, it's cute.

I just recently started reading some old, old Savage She-Hulk. It's like going back in time. If you like a late-1970's/early 1980's setting, you might like it, but it can be kind of melodramatic. It's of its time.

The Kelly Sue DeConnick run on Captain Marvel is pretty decent. I think it's in three numberings, counting the final miniseries. There's one issue that's part of a crossover that's just sort of weird. And the final miniseries, "Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps" is set in an altered reality and can be skipped.
