Echoing the above, the tour guides almost certainly have a script to follow; at the very least, a list of detailed bullet points to be sure to mention. From their POV, you want to ensure your guides are a) addressing the points that need to be addressed, and b) providing correct information. And then you do it by the book over and over, and then you finally start percolating some jokes to insert, or whatever, because you know your script backwards and forwards, and guess what, most people don't take tours more than once, so you get to re-use anything you come up with.

I can do public speaking as a shy awkward introvert, and even outreach for my job, because I know exactly what info needs to be said -- there's no room for trying to make awkward one-on-one small talk. I'm sure being a dazzling social butterfly wouldn't hurt, but not being one hasn't been a hindrance in that context.
