That's not that surprising. Apple's business model has changed over time, and they became an industry standard long enough ago that the reasons they did probably no longer apply.

Also, they did not become an industry standard on the basis of iMacs.

I never implied that about the iMacs. I just used them as an example of crap hardware. God I hated those machines....one even sounded really loud. We stayed away from that one.
