Not OP but I get it, they're both more adorable than sexy. There are different ways to be adorable like there are different ways to be sexy, but they both fit the mark to me. I wouldn't call either of them a 'more sexy than cute' character.

Using the examples OP gave, Sam and Dean are different characters but they are the same archetype, for example. Turk and JD are too - lovable goofballs.
