Stan stereotypes

(Anonymous) 2016-07-31 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Every fandom divides into camps surrounding the various characters, and each of these camps has its own trends, personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. This is your chance to complain about the stereotypical "___ stan" in your fandom.

Example: In Fandom A, fans of character X are aggressive, self-righteous, obsessed with chickens, and wild about 8tracks; fandoms of character Y are hipsters who make really good graphics and do a lot of tumblr network stuff.

Put the fandom in the subject line and do this for your own fandom!

MCU

Steve stans: very talented, most likely to pretend shipping is activism, huge inferiority complex, best sense of humor, probably all college girls blogging in pajamas

Tony stans: less talented than Steve stans but more likely to be artsy, sense of humor from 2007, really bad at gifs?, less sarcastic and more full of genuine joy, probably a higher proportion of middle-aged moms

I snorted at our last part because Tony would totally be my mom's type (and for the same reason would not be mine, ambitious men with dark hair and moustaches remind me too much of my dad).

Also I'm sort of sad you didn't describe Bucky stans cause lord I want to know.

Re: MCU

Bucky stans: saddest of all the stans, fiercely defensive without having the inferiority complex of Steve stans, innocent childlike sense of humor, filthy minds, fond of pastels and stars, most likely to be in late 20s/early 30s

Steven Universe

Pearl fans are salty lesbians who hate men and bisexuals.

Peridot fans are obnoxious shitposters.

Lapis fans and Jasper fans hate each other and accuse each other of being abuse apologists.

Re: Steven Universe

Yeah, that's...actually pretty accurate.

And then Garnet stans are the ones who actually celebrate love and goofy lesbian space rocks.

Danny Phantom

Some of it I see comes down to two sides-

Valerie/Danny-"Sam is a total manipulating bitchshrew and controls Danny"

Sam/Danny- "Sam is perfect, the ship is canon and the haters are just jealous of Sam"

Sam girls are straight, extraverted, fun-loving, and like dogs. Dean girls are gay, introverted, angsty, and like birds.

It took me a moment to realize you were saying Dean girls like bird and not ARE like birds, so I was trying to figure out how birds were angsty and introverted.

Case stans: You want to change something, think case made a mistake? Well then we will attack whatever you say out of sheer contrariness in the secure knowledge that Case will never do a thing to yank our leashes back.

Well that's weird because all the people who report repeats don't get attacked. And I've seen people not get attacked when they were polite.

It's almost like not immediately not jumping down his throat and telling him he's a horrible tyrant actually helps.

But you know, keep on being delusional.

Re: Stan stereotypes: F!S

(Anonymous) 2016-07-31 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Point proved. Instant attacking reply.

Re: Stan stereotypes: F!S

(Anonymous) 2016-07-31 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well if you consider any disagreement with what you say or argument against your debate points a "mean personal attack".

It could just mean that you're thin skinned about anyone who disagrees with you and people disagreeing and expressing examples that disprove what you say some kind of persecution.

You didn't even read the examples I gave you just noticed I disagreed and thus you were being attacked.

Beth Greene fans: white girls in their teens/early 20s, like Taylor Swift, obsessed with clothing, get very aggressive about the whole 'there is strength in softness' outlook.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-01 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
lol, that's very true in my experience, and also great, they're great people, love em

Supernatural

Destiel stans: will tell you all the livelong day how important their ship is for REPRESENTATION, would rather read schmoopy AUs about baristas or firefighters or basically anything but a hunter and an angel.

Wincest stans: will tell you all the livelong day how two brothers can have sex with each other but not be the slightest big gay, will have a fit and scream about how they were TRIGGERED if the wrong brother takes it up the butt.
