The gist I got from discussion is that it's a long thing on "Shipping two white guys does not make me racist or misogynistic, shipping a black man and a white woman together doesn't automatically make you NOT racist/misogynistic, and bullying people is bad" vs. the fandom screaming "If you don't ship Rey and Finn it makes you racist and misogynistic." and lots of people in the middle going "There are a billion reasons someone might ship/notship something and to say racism and misogyny can't be somewhere in there is dumb but also saying it's the only reason is dumb" but that's much less interesting than the two extremes.

That's what I got too but I'm generally inclined to find a charitable interpretation of things.
