I mean, rich and middle class people can be emotionally attached to stuff too though.

Well, yeah, of course, but the loss of a mattress for a rich person wouldn't be a disaster like it would be for me. It's not about sentimental attachment (I couldn't care less about my mattress sentimentally), it's about sheer practical logistics. When you can afford less, you can afford to lose less.

Also mattresses are just the most godawful thing to find and move when you don't have a car and can't afford to rent a truck. I've spent MONTHS replacing a mattress before. It was awful.
