I just kicked out team mystic and took over the train station. I have 100 coins now!

And I like these new aloha Pokemon types. Not keen on the vulpix but then never really been a fan. That sandslash though 😍

I'm looking forward to Sun and Moon because I'll finally have some new pokemon to catch. I got really into trying to get all the pokemon a few years ago and now I have not only every pokemon but every version of every pokemon. All the vivillons, all the unowns, I got four deoxys so I could have one in each state at the same time, etc. But then I haven't had much to do since I met my goal.

Oh my god. I've been trying. I have like 400-something in my pokedex? Getting all the Pokemon is hard! I basically just wonder trade and cross fingers.

Although I should see what games I have. Maybe I have something I can trade between the old ds and the 3ds if that is possible.

I traded a lot of my pokemon from other games to my main game where I was collecting them.

I also used the GTS a lot. I'd check for people offering legendaries because sometimes people would ask for something common to be nice or something that I could easily get another of. So I'd collect extra legendaries so I could offer them in exchange for pokemon that I was having trouble getting and be confident that people would be quick to make the trade.

I found that breeding larvesta and evolving them into volcarona was a good bet too. A lot of people don't want to do the work of evolving it themselves, if they even have access to larvesta, so I got a lot of pokemon by offering volcarona for them.

Good idea :o I have the fire pig starter I been offering up slowly for things but maybe that one instead! I think one of my friend safaris have it

Holy moley that's impressive, I tried so hard to get all the Vivillon but only got about 3/4 of the way there. How long does it take you on average to complete a game's pokedex?

X/Y was actually the first time I completed the pokedex. I hadn't played in years before I picked it up again in Gen VI. I bought at least one game from all the previous generations so I could try to catch as many pokemon on my own as I could, but I never completed the pokedex on any game but X. I just caught any pokemon I still needed and traded them over to my main game.

But finishing the pokedex in my game of Pokemon X took well over a year. I was really happy to get the shiny charm at the end.

haha I like it too! I think it's ridiculous and I love it.

The Dragon typing is random and unnecessary though, and pretty dumb. What exactly is Dragon-ish about it? What's wrong with Grass/Psychic? :/

I haven't even thought about taking on a gym yet, I don't have any Pokémon good enough for it anyway and atm I'm having way more fun just collecting the critters but my dad had a go at taking a Mystic gym the other day, it didn't work out so well.

I like the look of the ice-Vulpix but I also just really like Vulpix's so I am do down with it and the Ninetails. But either way Sun and Moon look neat and I'm looking forward to their release.

You can take on a gym with any old Pokemon! Order them by cp... Congrats! The first 6 are now your team! Eventually your closest gym will have only 1 Pokemon in it. Use your 6 to gang up on it :)

Or keep catching critter, can be fun many ways!

Hmmm that is an idea, and I do have a question about gyms: once you've beaten one do you have to put a Pokémon in there and if you do are they lost permanently?

I just don't like the idea of raising something and then saying goodbye to it. :(

You can't use them while they're in a gym but they'll come back to you when ousted :)

I'm feeling dispirited about the later game. Escape and break free rates actually seem to go up as you level up, even for weaker pokemon. (One redditor at level 29 reported a 10 cp pokemon breaking free 8 times before being caught.) I live next to a park, so I can farm pokeballs infinitely, but catching all these Pidgeys just to gradually raise my level feels tedious and unfun. Even gym battles seem pointless when another team comes in and takes over your gym 10 minutes later, then gets taken over in turn.

Yeah I've noticed things popping out of balls that shouldn't. Curve balls really help!

For getting higher level fast so you can get better Pokemon - get like 40 whatever's to evolve in one go and turn a lucky egg on. Bonus if some will evolve to new Pokemon! But after lvl 20 it becomes a real grind so I'm more just leaving it running as I go about work.

For the gyms yup I rarely hold for more than an hour. I'm just after the coins to by expansions! But I can only collect once a day so slow going. I'll battle them randomly for fun and lowering prestige but I think only remote gyms will hold for long. Cause nobody to challenge.

I just hit level 10, and I've noticed that my pokemon are definitely breaking free more. Which is annoying as all get out. I dread to think that it is going to get even worse.

Me too. I'm level 20 and I've been having really low-CP Pokemon break out repeatedly. It's one thing to have a high-CP Pokeomon escape, but there's no reason a 35 CP Ratatta with a green circle should break out of regular Pokeballs four times in a row.
