This is why I detest that term--people fling it around like poo, any desperate attempt to land, to make a point that always, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS is used to torpedo a female character. Fucking ALWAYS. The term is utterly meaningless at this point. And I literally stop reading as soon as that dumbass, '70s term is lobbed into the conversation.

OP, you're a dumbass. Find another way to make your point. You sound stupid when you say Mary Sue.

Mary Sue is a genderless term though, and there are plenty of male Mary Sues (though people call them something like Gary Stus despite there being no need for that name). Just because it was named for a female character doesn't gender the term.

And there ARE legitimate Mary Sues--idealized, perfect figures that usually exist as a mouthpiece for something. Surely you admit those characters exist.
