Sounds like a great opportunity for you to fly out there and try to lay these concerns to rest. In another comment you mentioned worrying there isn't enough work... this seems like something you'd be able to investigate more effectively on-site. Another anon suggested bargaining the contract down to 1 year -- also good advice. You're not one of those people who feel that once a company offers to do something for you, you owe them, are you?

Also from what you're saying your situation is time-sensitive and you don't have other ready options and this is an interview, not even an offer and your worries are based on vibes and speculations so... sorry, just seems like a no-brainer to me.
