You know the one place I see anything like this actually addressed in is HP bashing fics. Harry already doesn't have much because of how he grew up, so in fics that have someone stealing things from him (typically either Dumbledore or the Weasleys), he really doesn't take it well, especially when it's items like his Invisibility Cloak or the Marauder's Map.
