No, I'm talking about what happened in Final Fantasy VII. When Cloud realized that he'd lost all memory of Zack's existence and replaced Zack with himself in his memories. He hadn't really done anything worthwhile. His confidence was an illusion. It had all been Zack.

Even so, that was because Cloud was chock-full of issues and was a living vegetable whose brain was only coming into focus when he saw Zack dead, which... you've demonstrated that you're not. So wondering if you're going to be thrown into the angsty abyss because you might lose your own sense of self because you want to change yourself to resemble someone you admire seems a bit silly, don't you think? :)

Hey hey, I have played the original game, before the compilation, I'll have you know. I know the *entire focus* was that, but a) the OP doesn't have mako poisoning and isn't an impressionable, living vegetable and b) Cloud... got over it at the end. Which is why AC pissed me off, because it was a regression of character.

I really didn't mean it rudely; I just thought it fairly obvious that was what she was talking about---but I can see how, when you put it that way, it might be a little confusing.

The handling of ALL angsty characters in post-game Compilation really pisses me off too. Cloud especially, but also Tifa and Vincent (god kill doc).

These characters all resolved their problems because the game wasn't MEANT to be followed by anything =\

Heh, sorry for being a bit snippy, then. ^^; My back's been giving me grief from work and it's done *wonders* for my temper. But admittedly, it has been a while since I've played the original game, and some of the details are a bit hazy ("Tifa lied to Cloud to humor him and he's really Zack in his head but how did he know half of--*head explodes*).

LOL, I enjoy playing Dirge of Cerberus, but only because making fun of Vincent is my favorite thing to do. ♥ Without his little cape swishes, I have nothing. :'(!

Well, there's nothing wrong with making sequels... without butchering the characters. Nomura obviously didn't know the fine art of writing IC, haha.

I enjoy Dirge of Cerberus for its unintentional campiness and actually kind of fun (if retardedly basic) gameplay, but lordy lordy I can never take it seriously as a sequel.

I can enjoy him when he's written from a more realistic standpoint regarding emotions (ie no fucking melodrama) and subdued. Or, alternatively, those emotions are presented as serious flaws.

Which is to say, a bit out of character, but what can you do?

Also since when the fuck was he Dante Sparda? Last time I checked, Vincent was a pussy backrow character.
