Re: What series(etc) do you like that's not your genre?

I don't read a lot of mystery novels, but the Robert Glabraith books are really good. The hero is a complicated, traumatized piece of work, the descriptions are really good, and the mysteries (especially The Cuckoo's Calling) all have interesting themes like fame, race, class, the publishing world and it's jealousies, that explored in neat ways.

So is her writing as Galbraith way different than it was for Harry Potter? I was always curious about that, but not curious enough to read the series.
