I'm with you, weird at first, okay once I got over the weirdness. It was even good, although some parts were still bad. What was with Kloves!Ron? (Though to be fair, he was pretty Klove'd in the last two books as well. I almost think JKR got used to the movies and forgot her own character, as much as I hate to say it.) A friend of mine actually pointed out that it felt more like a sequel to the movies anyway. Especially given that Sirius was never even mentioned when there were times he should have been. (I can forgive the Godrics Hollow bit, since in PoA it's stated Hagrid got there before Sirius turned up.)

Also, Delphi was the most fanfic thing ever.

I laughed so hard at Delphi's reveal. The whole way through I kept thinking of various fanfics I was reminded of, and that then happened.

Everyone goes on about how ~bad fanfic~ Delphi is, and I agree, but I think that was the point. And of course it's the people who haven't read anything but the plot summary who rail about how terrible/Mary Sue the Delphi thing is, which is silly because she's such a minor part of the play, really.

The point was for it to be like fanfiction? How do you figure that?

No, I meant the writers were mocking that sort of bad Mary Sue character. JFC, she had a tattoo and blue hair. Tell me someone wasn't laughing as they were writing that.

I'd have to see a statement from the writers before I believe that it was meant to be mocking. The play seemed to play it pretty straight as far as I could see.

Honestly, the people who just read (horribly written) plot summary and are basing their hatred of the play on that are annoying me. I didn't really like the play either, but at least I actually read it. Especially as a lot of the spoilers weren't even true or were only half-true.

I liked the play fine. I just think those bashing it based on the summary look rather stupid now that I've read it. Because yeah, there is this really shaky badfic framework, but framework is all it is.
