Favorite character introduction scene

You how sometimes, a character's very first appearance is just gloriously perfect, or memorable, or tells a lot about their personality, and therefore that first scene is the perfect introduction to that character?

Tell us about some of your favorite examples of this. Quoting lines of dialogue (and/or prose, if from a book) would be awesome if applicable!

+1 on this, even though that season was where I started to dislike SPN. Castiel got a very good intro for his character.

Gandalf's first appearance in The Hobbit made me instantly fall in love with him 15 years ago and I've never fallen out of love with him since:


"Good morning!" said Bilbo, and he meant it. The sun was shining, and the grass was very green. But Gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows that stuck out further than the brim of his shady hat.

"What do you mean?" he said. "Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?"

Bronn from Game of Thrones was pretty great. Also Jack Sparrow's first scene was awesome in PotC.

I had this in real life, with a student by the name of Austin. I was talking to the principal when Austin walked by, and the principal said "Oh, hey, Austin." Austin let out a thunderous belch and walked away, and the principal told me "We have a love-hate relationship."

Death in Supernatural. I think this one couldn't have been more perfect. When I think of perfect and awesome entrances, this is always the first thing to come to mind.

Kylo Ren in tFA - weather you like him or not, he had a memorable introduction. I love that force hold of the blaster shot, then how he lets it go at the end in a casual display of power.

Rumplestiltskin on Once Upon a Time. At first it looks like his cell is empty, and then he drops down from the ceiling and scares the pants off his guards.

I know a lot of people talk about Castiel's entrance on SPN but my all time favorite entrance for SPN will always be Ruby's at the end of 3.01.
