Early period?

My period has always been really regular, but this month it came 6 days early and I'm kind of freaking out. I have been suuuper stressed lately and I know stress can cause it to be late, but can it also make it come early?

I'm 31 and not sexually active if that matters.

(I know, the most obvious answer is to go to the freaking doctor, but I'm trying to avoid that for insurance/money reasons, and I know we have a few people here who work in the medical field and thought someone might have some thoughts.)

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the reason?

Yes. I've had my period come early before when I was really stressed.

Stress can definitely make your period come early! Mine has come over a week early before just due to emotional stress alone. (Not even counting physical stress like surgery or major illness or the like.)

I don't think you should worry about an occassionally irregular period. When I'm not on BC, mine tends to be 33 days (not super regular, though), but when I was keeping track, it was once as brief as 27 days and once as long as 39 days. My doctor said it was fine.
