See, that doesn't bother me because what makes actual, real-life pedophilia bad is the fact that kids can't understand or consent to sex due to the fact that they aren't mentally mature yet. If a character is an adult mentally, then I don't find it squicky because they have the ability to consent.

On the other hand, if a character was physically mature but had the emotional/mental level of a child, I would be squicked as hell.

yes technically if those characters were real people it would be less gross, but the fact that the author specifically chose a loophole where they could sexualize children's bodies is what makes it creepy.
