M: brokeass asexual androgynous alien renegade who's also a chaos magnet. More adventure than a barrel over Niagara Falls. When R crushes on her, she can't run away fast enough, and they develop a friendship instead, only for her to realize a few years later that she's developed romantic feelings for him. Tries to avoid the whole thing by shoving the other two guys at each other, and it goes poly instead. R is her only romantic partner, and she prefers it that way, though she, R, and T all hang out together and are okay with doing things as a unit, due to their shared history. (Think HP Golden trio kinda stuff.) That's her in the icon.
R: rich uber-sensitive geek boy who's been in and out of therapy since the age of nine. Gets dragged into his big fantasy adventure by accident by M, and he mistakes her "everything's fine" bravado for real strength, which leads to a hero-complex crush that she stomps. Far prefers to READ about fantasy adventures than be in them, but over time, he learns to deal. When M finally succumbs to her issues, he helps her recover. Isn't too surprised by being bi--people have thought he was gay for years--but VERY bothered by the idea that he's being 'unfair' by liking more than one person at a time. Dates both M and T, and nobody else.
T: easy-going jock boy who thinks he's far more normal than he actually is. Falls into the fantasy world independently and totally by accident at fourteen, has completely adapted by the time he runs into R and M a year and a half later. Is with R, and also has a few satellite more casual relationships with people unrelated to the main three. He tends to balance out R and M, being the social chameleon with hardcore social skills.
