both sides *g*

I've been on both sides, too, in that I usually have a preference and I think of it as being connected to the vulnerability and the focus of being on the bottom. But I usually switch when I write in order to *inform the story*, and from a writer's perspective, it becomes a little frustrating to have the fandom enforce their preferences on you in bookmarks and comments. So I kind of have to agree a little with the OP that fandom can get set in stone a little and be rude about it?

(This has happened to me in H50 fandom, e.g., which tends to be ironclad about Danny on the bottom. I've gotten some pretty rude comments.)

And that is ridiculous. It's one thing to have a preference, it's another entirely to read a fic, not have it appeal to you, then bash or bug the author for liking something different. If you don't like it, move on and read something else, but just because someone writes the characters sexual dynamics differently than what you like doesn't give you a good reason to be a dick to them. It's easy as pie to walk away from that sort of thing, and at the end of the day it just isn't (or shouldn't be) that big a deal.

(I'll admit I quite like the visual of Danny as a bottom, but I have no issue with them switching and think you should carry on writing whatever you please!)

Exactly! I guess that's what the other secret maker is complaining about (that people should tag the sexual dynamics) and maybe that's one way to make people happier? It's not something that ever occurred to me before, but I started writing fic before AO3 and did a huge mf import with minimal tags and never really caught up mentally. Of course, I will have to go back into each story and figure out a) if someone is bottoming and b) who is. Augh. :D

(and thank you! I love all the visuals I'm getting in H50s case. :)))

It might stop some people from being assholes, but frankly it shouldn't take tagged fic to prevent that. I think it could potentially give you a bigger, more passionate audience, but I also don't think you should feel like you need to do it. Tagging a large backlog of fic could be time-consuming, so that's entirely up to you!

H50 is a pretty, pretty show. Lots to work with there.
