Sure: The story picks up at the end of a particularly trying case (I've written here about the unsub who crafts with his kills) in which he had to read a ton of stuff written by the unsub, and it was the proverbial straw. I'll let this excerpt explain it:

"Spencer had always been good at compartmentalizing. With so much information crammed into his brain, he had to be. His mind was a library of facts and quotes and data all neatly organized and filed away, just waiting for him to reach out and grab it. But there was one room in his mental library that he locked up tight, the key hidden in a fake rock in a sea of rocks.

It was where he kept the worst of everything his job threw at him. He kept abstracts in the main hall: Billy Flynn always left an emotionally scarred victim behind after brutally murdering loved ones. Ronald Boyd decapitated immigrants. James Maynes turned his victims into things. But the sights. The smells. The sounds and the stark words, crisp black on white stayed locked in that room unless he had to pull them out.

At least, they used to."

That was actually the last thing I wrote about five months ago, and the continuation of it has him enduring particularly bad memories that invade all his sense, and when he gets nearly mugged on the way home, he ends up getting the upper hand and accidentally killing the guy. And in that moment, the memories receded.

And that's where I could see it stopping as a one-shot origin story, but could continue to show his "progression" as he actually becomes pretty much the world's best serial killer.

Oh, I see! That's a very interesting take. If you do finish writing it, I hope you'll post about the fic here.
