I mostly feel like this. Except, for the first time, I find him hot in Doctor Strange. So I do want to see him in that.

Besides Doctor Strange and probably Giant Marvel Coalition Parts 1 and 2, I don't even know his next live action appearance.

He's easy enough to ignore especially when Sherlock gives us three episodes every four years.

his page on imdb.com just lists three movies where he's doing the voice (I'm cringing for one - How the Grinch stole Christmas. Please, not again! Wasn't enough that you had Jim Carrey as the Grinch, that we now have to have him as the Grinch?) and that's really it

No! The animated short from the 60s is as close to a perfect adaptation as it gets. This is already doomed to fail. I'm going to cackle at the all well-deserved mockery it will receive.

It must be a tumblr "all over my dash" thing, because I just don't see that much of him if I don't make an effort to watch something he's in. I feel that way about most actors people claim are overexposed.

I've seen a lot of him

It's just, for a while he was everywhere. He's on a current series with a juggernaut ship (which, yes, has 3-episode seasons that are getting further apart, but not four years). He joined in huge movie franchises, where the fact that he was in them was made a big deal (the Freeman connection for The Hobbit and the whole Khan thing for Star Trek). Then there was the Oscar campaign for The Imitation Game. And now it's Doctor Strange. Now, he seems like a perfectly nice guy, but there has been an awful lot of media exposure (and fandom exposure) in the last five and a half years.

I'm with you, anon. He's actually a pretty good actor? And while he's done/said some shitty stuff, it's all very "I was raised with a silver goddamn spoon in my mouth in one of the weirdest most insular upper class cultures so I really don't Do the real world right" as opposed to being a willfully nasty person. As a person, he honestly seems fairly sweet if not overly exciting.

But damn if I don't hate the man more than I hate most actors.

I like him, but actors being overexposed is a common thing, and I've been there.

I'm sure Mr. Cumberbatch is a very nice person, but MAN is he a stellar example of how low my fandom saturation point is. I think about the only people I'm more sick of than him are Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan.

I had a weird blast from the past thanks to the facebook On This Day thing from summer 2009 when I joked about naming my firstborn Benedict Cumberbatch; he was in a Miss Marple that summer and it was the first I'd ever seen of him and I thought his name was funny and he was kind of cute. And now I'm sick of him and wish he would go away. How things change...
