My problem is that I just cannot abide a beardless Riker.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-10 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
True.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-10 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! I don't mind beardless Riker, but I understand your dilemma.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-10 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
His face just looks so...naked *shudder*

It does. It truly does.

I do like Q's comment on how he seemed like he was more into the ladies pre-beard, though.

He doesn't look quite right without one.

Some men's faces are made for beardlessness. His is not.

Idd, beardy Riker all the way.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, he looks better with a beard.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-12 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! Yeah, he looks much better with a 'stache and beard.

I think more people probably recognized its flaws but still mostly enjoyed it before fandom at large crawled up on its high horse.

I adore every season of ST:TNG. EVERY SEASON.

I'm working my way through TNG and S1 is a taking me forever.

2 isn't really better. 7 is pretty dire, too. 6 is uneven. The middle seasons are pretty good, though.

2 is a mixed bag IMHO

I was just watching the pilot the other night and found it kinda charming how OTT Riker/Troi was at first. I was trying to keep it together because I was with a first-time watcher but, the wistful close-ups on them after they say something about the alien trying to return to its mate...lol. So I had to explain that a lot of dynamics are more chill later on.

I'm doing a rewatch of TNG (on season 6 as we speak) and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. Seeing the progression without much time between episodes is a lot of fun. I have a soft spot for the first two seasons (minus Pulaski in two) because the show was finding their footing. It's a bit amazing that the show managed to get past the first two. And I'm glad they did.

The first time my country aired TNG they aired Encounter at Farpoint (which I love for the space jellyfish) then went straight to Season 2 for some ungodly reason. So Season 1 for me is almost like an alternate universe where Yar actually dies and Riker has no beard.
