The Neverending Story. I liked the original as a kid but as an adult it has some reallllllyyyyyy boring parts. Also, the monsters could improve with some CGI and more modern practical effects.

This, but because the original movie adapted only half the book! They must not have thought the second half, with Bastian ruining Fantastica and nearly losing his memory and sense of self as a consequence, wasn't family-friendly enough. Whatever!
