Well that is aggravating

(Anonymous) 2016-08-13 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I really fancy a pint of mild, but even if I could get my disabled ass out by my own all the pubs round here are closed anyway. Local council has enforced a 10pm closing on all of them, even Saturdays.

I'm sorry :( And opening day of the premier league, too.
Is there any chance the council will reverse its decision? We had a similar thing two years ago but it only lasted a few months. I like the price of buying from the grocery store better but I don't drink much and it's nice to go out once in a while, so I do that since the council lifted the curfew.

It isn't on the cards, they are a lot of prudes and puritans on the council right now. Any licensing changes will have to wait until the next set of elections at least, and that assumes the few people who turn out to vote in local council elections will vote for someone different. Which I doubt will happen. It is all old people voting for other old people right now.

On the other hand, all the old people are probably the only reason the pubs round here do have mild on tap when they are open. I mean who drinks old fashioned mild any more?

That sucks, dude. :( Sympathies.

Thanks. It is one of the hidden things about being disabled, spontaneous now means with only 48 hours notice. You can never do things spur of the moment, everything has to be planned in advance.

Well for my kind of disabilities, I'm sure some SJW will be along to rage that other differently abled can still do spontaneous stuff. So hoo-bloody-ray for them.

If you don't mind me asking, what is it you're dealing with health wise?

I used to work as a carer and remember well the bloody red tape and inconsistent service that clients used to have to deal with.

I'd rather not disclose that even in this limited public forum, I hope you don't mind. It is nothing personal against you, you understand.

Of course. Apologies for asking, hope I didn't make you uncomfortable by doing so. I hope things improve for you.

I feel you so much on this, and even with enough time to prepare, you don't know how long it's going to take to get the right parking spot and find the right access. I missed nearly the entire first half of the soccer because they decided to let people queue on the disabled parking spots. Rather than moving the people, the parking attendants told us to come back in twenty minutes. Then after parking we still had to queue ourselves to pick up our tickets, then I got sent to the wrong entrance. The disabled toilets were even locked. I was so tired and angry that it didn't even feel worth it. Plus we lost.

I would also like a drink. I would like to go get a drink on my own without adult supervision and assistance, because I am 25 years old.

I wish I lived where you are. I'd be a good friend and bring some over to drink.
