They were full of criticism of things like the special effects, and how people didn't appreciate another "sassy black woman" character (not a black woman character, mind you, but the stock figure). And when stuff about the special effects, which has nothing to do with the cast at all, is being called sexism, then you have a problem.

And yes, it IS about ethics in journalism. You don't think GamerGate is either, do you?

Even if the director was oversensitive about criticism being sexist, it seems like not a reason to pile on criticizing him. Omg you are oversensitive and some criticism of your movie is actually not motivated by sexism so I am going to not see your movie... What? Does not follow. Just ignore his overreacting. That is the best. You overreacting back about him mistaking your criticism for sexist seems way too far a reach.
