The comments/reactions are very similar to what happened with the whole Jeremy Clarkson incident--people defending him and thinking the BBC were wrong to decline renewing JC's contract.

I've also seen comments saying that this made TG a totally horrific person. All I could do was chuckle and think how they'd all react to all the horrible shit Jeremy Clarkson has done and mostly, said. I have to take my amusement where I can find it.

I don't watch "Top Gear", but I've heard a bit about some of the stuff that happened there, and yeah, I'm not entirely surprised the reactions would be similar. I get people have their favorites and are fans and all, but sometimes their blinders are on way too tight and they need to get some perspective.

I agree that I don't think he's the WORST PERSON EVAR!! because of this. Lord knows there's celebrities out there who've done much more hideous things than him. He's clearly done stupid things, sure, and it's pretty disappointing to see someone who, especially at his age, should really know better acting like this. But I won't write off any chance of him ever redeeming himself, and would support any efforts he makes to get his shit together.

Mind, I haven't seen much of anything else he's been in (only saw snippets of "Dharma and Greg" when he was on there), so I don't know if this sort of behavior popped up when he was in other shows, too. If it has, though, then yeah, clearly his issues run deeper than many might be aware of.
