Kicking people is a pretty big deal. Doing it multiple times as an adult (and not out of actual self-defense) definitely sets you apart in terms of assholishness. That is not normal.

I never said it was normal or not a big deal. I'm just tired of people on the internet being so quick to brand a person an asshole as if they're nothing more than a specific incident or set of incidents over a long time.

I don't think calling him an asshole for kicking people multiple times is being entirely dismissive of any other aspect of himself or his personality that exists. But it's a legit reason to not like him and to call him an asshole.

I personally try to avoid calling people assholes so much as describing behavior as assholeish, because I believe people are redeemable. But I also don't think the phrase "you are an asshole" is usually used to imply complete irredeemability either, and again, I can definitely understand why it would apply here.
