I used to wear panties like that almost exclusively because, before the popularization of boy shorts, they were one of the only low rise styles readily available (I realize that I'm dating myself a bit, here). I find high-waisted and mid-waisted underwear (and pants for that matter) to be horrifically uncomfortable.

Yes, the late 90s' to early 00s with super low rise everything were fucking glory days for me.
